I literally climbed a motha fuckin mountain!!! ok, so it wasn’t that big, but it was a mountain, in Denali park. We decided to go to Denali for Labor Day weekend since he had two days off. Road Trip! We got our camping gear, our clothing, and our snacks which consisted of three giant bags of chips, a 2 pound bag of red vines, mint chocolate Milanos, raspberry candies, and a giant bag of beef jerky. We were set! Plus it was only a two hour ride, but it was frackin beautiful.

Let me state again I am from Florida, which means flat swamp land. I thought the hills were mountains when I first got here. Driving up from Fairbanks to¬†Denali was hilly and so many, many trees. They were in all different colors too, from red and orange and yellow. We don’t have changing leaves either in Florida. We stopped a couple time so I could take a pic, but for the most part it was an enjoyable quick drive.

We did start out a little late and got to the park around¬†6-ish. We went to the visitor center and bought our car passes so we could go hiking the next day. The thing I saw the most there were signs about bears and how to avoid being attacked. Oh and of course the motha fuckin mountains that looked like they were painted on the sky. There had been some snow on the higher ones but the ones closest to us had none on them. We took a tiny look around and then headed to camp…

…Oh did I mention our camp site was also a brewery! Yup, The 49th State Brewery. Inside it looked really woodsy, giant bar and a camp fire in the middle of the dinner floor. I waited for our table while he reserved our camp site and once we got seated, a table around the fire luckily, the drinking began. We did not get shit faced but the beer was actually really good, and so was the food. I highly recommend the Meat Lovers Mac N Cheese! After dinner we drove the truck to our spot ( we still haven’t left the camp sight) and started our own fire, had some ciders and talked about anything and everything. Sadly the camp fire died and we got the last bundle, but I thought that maybe we should get a night cap at the brewery. We each had a whiskey and ginger and then got ready for bed.

I haven’t slept in a sleeping bag since I was about 9 years old so it was very weird, but I am glad we had them because it dropped to 30 degrees that night. Once bundled up and situated with the Mr.’s sleeping was easy, plus I was a little tipsy.

It’s Sept and How Cold Is It???

Yuppppp, On the last couple days of August it got cold. Now I know it gets well below 0 here but 30 degrees is still cold no matter what. Every day both morning and night you can hear more and more geese fly south. And BOY ARE THEY LOUD! Mr. CG took me to the field where most of the geese and other giant ass birds mingle before they head back to warmer weather. It was really pretty, but chalk full of stupid mosquitoes. Ugg they are awful here and that is coming from a Florida girl.

At Creamer’s Field I also learned what things can be eaten that grow here ( rose hips, puff mushrooms, a couple different flowers, raspberries, and blueberries) and Mr. CG ate them all. He is the weirdest nature boy ever, loves his video games and movies and tv, but put him out in the wild climbing or snacking and he is happier than a pig in shit…. Oh boy my south is coming out, I just mean he get’s really happy. We didn’t get too close to the birds since they were half the size of us and so many. I’d rather not get attacked, even though it was very tempting to run and scare them all like a small child would. I might be 27 but I’m still 5 at heart. It was nice though and I enjoyed it a lot. I stop by every other day to see if there are still birds, and the answer is yes but fewer and fewer. I think I am going to need to buy winter clothing soon, ekkk.
